I’d like some help with setting up an internet forum of some sort to hook people up with shared rides, group rooms, camping, hostels, cheap motels, and other ways of getting to the Denver LP National Convention affordably.
A lot of what happened in Portland may have had to do with the fact that it was a long drive for most people, and one of the more expensive places to fly to, and partially as a result of that, the lowest attended LP national convention since the early 1970s. Furthermore, the people who are unable to afford these things are more likely to be radical and left-libertarians, although that is far from universally true.
Anyway, if anyone wants to help with setting this up, please let me know in the comments.
By the way, since it is now on page 3,

I should remind folks I am looking for material assistance with another project: youth/campus organizing.
To launch, we need a bank account, board members, website, treasurer, fundraiser(s).
So far I have received some general advice and some people saying it is a
good idea, but I need concrete help.
So far it sounds like…
If someone wants to pay for the website hosting I can design the website.
Paulie, call me…. or at least email me. Jake, I’ll host it and provide the software/etc, if you’ll manage it as needed.
I think it’s a really great idea, the party of principle needs to stay principled, we should plan far in advance as to where people will stay and the best way to get there. Let me know if I can help.
Seth,
I’ll call after 9 PM, that should be 10 PM your time. Let me know if that’s too late. I can also call between 6-7 AM (7-8 AM your time) if you prefer. Otherwise I’ll have to wait until Wesdnesday when I get new minutes.
I have better email access at this motel (there’s a computer in the lobby) but it’s one for everybody and I don’t want to monopolize it, plus I have to go out and about and work and not hang around the motel all day.
Pauliecannoli – you might want to contact ISIL – Jarrett Wollstein. ISIL is about to start project to encourage campus&community group formations.
Groups can start up as SIL chapters or existing clubs (LP., Advocates, what have you) and get support services too.
Thanks. I’ll call them. Might be more productive than going through LP channels…we’ll see.
BTW just paulie is fine, or paul. I hadn’t figured how to make a space break between paulie and cannoli when I created my screen name, and I’d have to wipe everything out and start over if I wanted to change it now.
I cross-posted this entry on the LFV MySpace page, in case anyone there is interested. I’ll also cross-post your other entry re youth/campus organizing.
Awesome, thanks!
I can’t help on the website, don’t know how… However I AM looking for a place to stay at the convention.
I am male, 50, non-smoker, flexible in what I will take for a short term room-mate setup. I am willing to cram as many people into a room as the hotel will allow, but I would want a bed or at least a roll-away.
I would prefer to stay at the convention hotel, and will be arriving in Denver on Thursday the 22nd, and leaving Monday the 26th, so will need a room for the nights of 5/22-25.
If interested, I can be contacted at “ArthurTorreycomcastnet
