- I’m looking for more bloggers to write here. If you are interested, drop me a note in the comments.
I’ve already added Less Antman, Robert Mayer, Matt Harris and Jim Davidson. Michelle is still signed up to write here, but has not in quite some time. I still cross-post at her blog.
- The about page is out of date.
It includes some youtubes which have since expired. I haven’t done much with Crazy for Liberty or myspace in quite a while, and the Steve Kubby radio show is no more. Since I am no longer at LFV (see below), here is my about blurb that used to be listed there:
Paulie was born in Siberia, part of the former USSR in 1972 and the USA is reminding him more of the country his parents took him out of every day. Growing up in the epicenter of the 1980s crack cocaine explosion in NYC, Paulie got caught up in the available business ventures and saw some of his friends die, and then became an activist against the drug war.
Through his involvement in the drug peace movement, and college studies in free market environmentalism, he became interested in libertarianism, and abandoned the Democrats after they picked the military-industrial-corporate-statist DLCer and drug warrior hypocrite Bill Clinton as their nominee in 1992, thus finally disproving the idea that 60s radicals were merely infiltrating the establishment in order to change it.
Paulie became an LP member in 1995 and a life member in 2000, and has occasionally been on the executive committee of the Alabama LP. Since 1998, he has traveled the country as a professional activist. Between that and his earlier travels in the import-export business as a teenager, he has been to 49 US states and about 20 countries, and lived in a number of them. As a life long entrepreneur, he has also started hundreds of businesses in a wide variety of fields.
Paulie recently worked on the Steve Kubby for President campaign, has been an active member of the Libertarian Party Radical Caucus, is an advisory board member of Liberty Consulting, and hopes to start a new national College Libertarian Organizing Committee.
He is an Anti-war, true leftist, anarchist, left libertarian, agorist, (r)evolutionary.
- As many of you already know, I got kicked off LFV last month. The stated reason for doing so was
I have the message you sent out to individuals and groups behind my back, attempting to damage my reputation and LFV’s reputation (which again, proves only that I was right to downgrade your permissions, since obviously you cannot be trusted at all). As a result of that vindictive email, which wasn’t even truthful [...], I have removed you from LFV.
Here is the only email I sent out during the timeframe in question that pertained to the situation, other than to ENM directly:
Anyone who has issues with ENM is welcome to join me on my blog as contributors.
http://pauliecannoli.wordpress.com/
I realize some of you are busy. It’s an open invitation for whenever.
She just downgraded my status at LFV with no prior discussion/warning. I’m not too happy about that since I’ve been there longer than her, invited most of the people who write there (her included), etc.
This is the full text of the email. Nothing in it attempts to damage anyone’s reputation, or is in any way vindictive. It went out to a very small number of people who had either been kicked off LFV before I was or left on their own, and no “groups” as ENM claims in the portion I did not reprint here (although Brian Miller later forwarded it to Outright Caucus exec comm, without asking me). It did not say anything about reasons why she downgraded my status, another false claim ENM made in her last response, after which she stopped talking to me.
Of course, I have removed her from writing any more here. I freely admit that I made a mistake in trusting her to be a co-administrator with me both at LFV and here. I should have taken full control of LFV when I had the chance. I was on the road, with limited internet access, and foolishly put my trust in the wrong person. Luckily, she did not kick me off this site as well.
People ENM kicked off LFV before me include Jim Davidson and Chris Bennett. Others left on their own.
Since that time, ENM has also kicked out Todd Andrew Barnett, and as a result he is starting The Freeman Chronicles, another group blog I have been invited to and might join.
As for my original offenses:
1) I did not volunteer information about my criminal history. True, but she never asked me. She says she “did ask” me, by way of asking why I was trying to dissuade her from publishing a hit piece about Gary Fincher. However, since my reasons were at that time stated completely and truthfully, and had nothing to do with my criminal past, this is erroneous. I don’t exactly hide that I have a criminal past, either:
No, I have not always been a good person. I have lied, stolen, cheated, swindled, literally beaten the shit out of people, just about every bad thing you can think of I have done. No, I am not proud of doing these things. No, I don’t have a time machine. I apologize to everyone that my deeds as well as my words have hurt.
2) I published some articles about top search terms used to find LFV, what articles were being read the most, what links LFV readers clicked the most on, and top referring sites to LFV. She says that “anyone with any common sense” would not have published those. I described what I did to several people, and not one of them thought there was anything wrong in publishing what I did. If anyone is curious, I can publish the same sort of information for this blog.
3) In the aforementioned exchange regarding Gary Fincher, she claims I was “repeatedly, intentionally abusive” to her. This is completely false. I have the email exchange saved and can prove that I was not abusive. If she took it that way, it was most certainly not due to any intention on my part.
Since I’m now publishing this here, she may well say I am provoking her into publishing an article about some of my criminal history. If she does, I’ll consider it a violation of my privacy, and a way of making it easier for an experienced and trained killer who has publicly and explicitly threatened to kill me and feed my corpse to his dogs to find me. I consider respect for privacy to be a two way street.

ENM is a fascist bitch. So is that Hogarth cunt.
You lay down with the dogs, you wake up with the fleas…
Who cares who you’ve beaten up? You seem like a pretty cool guy to me. I’ll bet most of the people who visit here are criminals in some sense or another, be it pot smoking, speeding, drunk driving, or whatever. Most human beings do at least one or two of the three things I just mentioned, and the latter of them isn’t always a victimless crime either.
I don’t know ENM at all, but the whole thing seems whacky to me. Why go out of your way to kick someone off an intarweb blog for past criminal infractions according to some arbitrary penal code?
Why go out of your way to kick someone off an intarweb blog for past criminal infractions according to some arbitrary penal code?
Except that’s not why I got kicked off. It’s why I was downgraded from admin, or at least one of the reasons.
I was actually kicked off with the following justification:
“I have the message you sent out to individuals and groups behind my back, attempting to damage my reputation and LFV’s reputation (which again, proves only that I was right to downgrade your permissions, since obviously you cannot be trusted at all). As a result of that vindictive email, which wasn’t even truthful [...], I have removed you from LFV.”
Here is the *only* email I sent out during the timeframe in question that pertained to the situation, other than to ENM directly:
“Anyone who has issues with ENM is welcome to join me on my blog as contributors.
http://pauliecannoli.wordpress.com/
I realize some of you are busy. It’s an open invitation for whenever.
She just downgraded my status at LFV with no prior discussion/warning. I’m not too happy about that since I’ve been there longer than her, invited most of the people who write there (her included), etc.”
This is the full text of the email.
Attempting to damage reputation? Vindictive? Untruthful?
Paulie, you are on the side of the angels in this controversy. I think you should do very well with your blog here. I’m very pleased to help out as I’m able.
Thank you!
Post some articles and spread the word
Posted one. I’ll see what I can do to spread the word. I should update my Facebook profile to reflect this blog and others (Freeman Chronicles, Vertoro.blogspot, bostontea.us) where my writings have gotten to.
I’d need someone else to update my wikipedia bio. Do you know anyone who’d help with that? I’ve been asked not to update it further, as they argue there is an ethics issue. (I disagree – autobiographies are perfectly ethical.)

Not off the top of my head. I’m not signed up to edit wikipedia.
Try asking on facebook, blogs, etc.
Jim Davidson – “need someone else to update my wikipedia bio”
I see your Wikipedia stub recently prevailed (no consensus) in a recent deletion discussion, advanced by WikiWanker Arthur Rubin. I have no editing account with Wikipedia, and have in the past, on many different occasions, engaged in pitched battles about content. I strongly support open-source knowledge bases, and even believe that the wikimedia codebase can be utilised to advance that goal, but Wikipedia is corrupted, possibly beyond repair, and I am no longer actively involved with the site. I am of the opinion that one content battle which I ended up losing aided and abetted the obfuscation of an instance of human torture of a Pakistani citizen, as well as a cover-up collusion by the US and Pakistan authorities.
Wikipedia’s desire to limit users from creating and editing their own biographies is a valid concern though. It cannot pass the bias smell test. The problem with Wikipedia’s system of content resolution is that is itself has become a biased process. Wikipedia has devolved into a feudalistic system with recognised editors controlling their own article fiefdom, and the other nobility often looking the other way in content battles, because they do not want to upset the apple cart, or to create political enemies.
This is not to say that all Wikipedia articles are tainted. Yesterday, I ran across the article about Joseph Priestley, and was impressed with its breadth. It still all comes down to which barony controls which articles. Whenever the topic of Wikipedia comes up around me, I recommend that people read the Slashdot subthread: “Who Decides The Truth?. Within it can be found much enlightenment. Pay special attention to what one “Snowspinner” had to say about the Wikipedia article: “Steak and Blowjob Day”. For those who do not care to peruse the thread, I offer this excerpt:
[blockquote]>> There is a saying, the victors often write history.
> With the wiki model, whoever has the most time to spend editing the work of others writes history.
So basically, it’s the losers that write history these days.
Pretty much cuts to the chase.
Along that same vein… While looking at Arthur Rubin’s very own Wikipedia bio article, I noticed that it states he received his PhD in 1978, and goes on to list 4 published papers, yet does not mention any learning institution he is associated with, nor any current employment. The most recent of these four published papers is dated 1993, fifteen years ago. His birth year was 1956. At 52, a person who has a Mathematics PhD should be at near the pinnacle of their career.
The word for the day is: wikipeotillomania. A word that everyone should have in their vocabulary.
Интересная тема, Спасибо!
I’m happy that you enjoyed it.
@disinter all this name-calling and nastiness on all sides is not productive or helpful. You only indict your own integrity when you speak like that.
I quit LFV bc:
- there is no clear statement of what makes an article acceptable, or not, for publication.
- there is no clear statement on what actions will trigger banishment.
- banishments are not announced to the remaining contributors. that was unsettling.
- the enmhusband posts were bizarre and unprofessional.
- while I don’t earn anything from my writing, it’s of value to me. Putting it on a site where I don’t have full control is risky. This concern was vindicated when ENM choose to remove my posts from the site when I resigned.
I have nothing against ENM. Please note I am not attacking her personally or impugning her in any way!
May I suggest a change in the paradigm? Instead of having one blog with many authors, let’s have many blogs with one (or a few) authors each – and then let’s aggregate those blogs on one central site.
Advantages:
- No more fighting over editorial policies or whose blog it is.
- No more banishment.
- If you quit, you keep your posts at the same URL they’ve always been at. IOW, you retain full control.
What’s an aggregator? Blog software today includes RSS feeds, which is a machine-readable way of presenting your content. We set up a central site, separate from all the blogs, and we plug all participants’ RSS feeds into this central site.
Voila, blog posts from all the blogs are linked to from this central site.
Since each person retains control of their own work, there is less to fight about. And if the central site dies for any reason, you just start up a new one. Little or nothing actually lives at the central site, so nothing is there to be lost.
If there is any interest in this, please let me know and I will get to work.
I don’t plan on banishing anyone here. You can write about whatever you want, but I’d like the bulk of the articles to be about something related to politics or philosophy with a broadly libertarian perspective. That is, articles about sports, gear reviews, and the like should either not be published here, or be very rare. Articles where you disagree with a libertarian perspective are OK, but they should include the libertarian perspective. I’m interested in writers who have libertarian views on most or all issues.
Don’t make actionable threats or reveal personal information about people without their consent (address, phone number, etc). Don’t make claims of fact that you know to be false, especially with malicious intent to harm someone. If I have a problem with anything you write, I might make it private while I discuss it with you. It wouldn’t cause me to banish you, and certainly not without warning.
I just checked. At least three of them are still there. So are mine. They just aren’t linked from the front page anymore.
As for having complete control, you’ll have the ability to do anything here that I can do, except delete me from being an admin or delete the blog.
Aggregators: If I can aggregate your articles onto my blog automatically with the ability to keep them on your blog at the same time, I’m all for it. Show me how to do it, and it’s done.
Oops, I stand corrected. She retained my articles. Apologies.
Can you walk me through how the aggregation thing works?
By the way, I’m not sure my permission is needed for you to aggregate my articles on your blog as well, but if it is, you have it.
If you need anything more active from me than my permission, let me know.
Paul, on aggregation, I’m just wondering if there is any interest in doing it.
I’m offering it up bc IMO the group blog concept seems less than ideal for us libertarians. ;/
How would it work? Let’s say we get a domain called libertyblogs.com or whatever. On that domain we set up aggregation software. Now we get the RSS feeds of people who want to participate. We plug those in to the aggregation software and what you see on the front page of this libertyblogs.com website looks like a group weblog while still retaining individual control.
Some examples of how it can be done:

http://planet.plone.org/
http://openclue.org/
http://www.chichaplanet.org/
My comment got held for moderation it looks like.
Yep, anything with more than two links gets help up. I pulled it out of there. If you’d like, I can sign you up as an author here – among other things, it lets you pull your own comments out of moderation.
I’m familiar with aggregators, but I don’t know how to set them up. Can I aggregate other blogs to this blog? Can people post comments here on those posts?
This plugin might do the job:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/feedwordpress/
But do they allow it on wordpress.com?
I wouldn’t consider wordpress by any means an ideal platform for an aggregator.
I think WordPress blogs can be aggregated into a Joomla front-end, but haven’t played around with that yet.
What’s the problem that such a configuration solves though?
The ability for authors to cross-post here automatically when they post on their own blog, without having to copy and paste.
